通中国，济天下。

近日，光华-凯洛格 EMBA与凯洛格其他合作院校来自世界各地的百余位学员一起，在北京大学光华管理学院上海分院共同迎来精彩的“全球选修课-上海周”。

他们中，有希望了解中国市场的外籍高级管理人员，也有期盼更好开拓国际市场的中国企业家。大家一起激荡思想、相互沟通，不断融合，提升国际化经营能力。尽管有着完全不同的工作和生活背景，他们却有着共同的学习目标：更好掌握中外经济与管理规律，提升在国际商业舞台的综合竞争力。

来自光华-凯洛格EMBA 05班的Rick Sui Shyang Hwang撰写了本文，旨在与更多同学分享此次在“全球选修课-上海周”的"更中国、更世界"学习体验。

Shanghai, the Pearl of the Orient, Paris of the East. Only some of the names of this amazing city of China, which never fails to live up to its name.

14th November 2019 marked the start of the Global elective in Shanghai, with 109 EMBAs showing up in full force from all over the globe.

As the city welcomed us with open arms, so did the hearts of all of us, as we prepared to soak up the every bit of what she had to offer.

2019年11月14日，我们在上海迎来了精彩的“全球选修课-上海周”，与来自全球各地的109位同学一起进行了为期六天的课程。

It was a brisk winter’s evening， where we made new friends and reconnected with old ones. We eventually huddled together as a Guanghua-Kellogg family for a group photo, with the backdrop of the impressive Pudong skyline across the HuangPu River, resembling any scene from a futuristic movie, with the towering skyscrapers, glittering LEDs and the words “I❤SH” in the background.

We started the week were welcomed by Professor Li Ma, who reminded us that while we were all here to better ourselves academically, the most important was to have the best time doing so.

上海的冬天冷得深入骨髓，但再凛冽的寒风也阻挡不了我们与老友重逢、与新友相识的热情。我们第一时间聚在一起拍了一张合影，背景是黄浦江对岸令人印象深刻的浦东天际线。高耸入云的摩天大楼搭配着闪闪发光的LED灯，在我们身后一闪一闪的“I❤SH”，这场景让我们仿若置身电影画面中。

Professor Steven Franconeri going straight into what he does best with his course on Visualization for Persuasion, testing us with tapping to the beat of “For he’s a jolly good fellow” which no one but sharp-eared Apollo made any sense of. Now that we’ve been cursed with expertise, we are one skill better for it! Through the week, Professor Franconeri engaged the cohorts in rethinking how endless hours of past presentations could have been hours of productivity and most of us would never look at pie charts the same way again.

Steven Franconeri教授为我们讲授了他最经典的课程【Visualization for Persuasion】。

教授在木板上敲了一段奇怪的旋律，然后问大家听出了什么。在大部分同学完全没有头绪的时候，耳朵灵敏的Apollo同学发现这是一首美国著名民谣 “For he’s a jolly good fellow” 的节拍。教授用这个趣味小互动让我们了解了何谓认知偏差——如果我们用自以为简单的专业术语与非专业人士沟通，大部分人是无法理解的，这样就会出现沟通障碍。

教授不断的启发我们，教我们如何用非专业人士也能理解的方式表达，提升我们做演示或报告的效率。教授说自己非常痛恨圆饼统计图，因为它的实用性低，在视觉上也容易误导读者。

对不起教授！我们做报告时再也不会用它们了！

Professor Li'an Zhou, Professor Xinzhong Xu and ProfessorYao Tang from the Guanghua School of Management shared their unique views on China's politics and economy from different perspectives, helping us to better understand China.

The explanations of several Chinese professors greatly stimulated the interest of the students. Everyone kept asking questions in the classroom, and the professors gave wonderful answers.

Through in-depth discussions and analysis, we have a deeper understanding of how to analyze the international market and international operations based on China, and how to dig deeper into the laws of China's economy and business from an international perspective.

It was through the lunch breaks during the day where the cohorts really mingled and engaged amongst ourselves, sharing past experiences in China and catching up on friendships forged from our previous Chicago module.

The highlight of the week for most of the cohorts who made it was the “Shanghai Treasure Hunt”, with the goal of exploring the city, mingling with the locals and savoring Shanghainese delicacies. The cohorts we split into 7 groups with the challenge of completing tasks within 4 hours, amazing race style.

“Wu Ei Sang Hei”, or “I love Shanghai” in the shanghainese dialect, was the mood of the moment, when a pack of 70 strong International EMBAs roamed the streets of the city in true form, navigating through the Shanghai Subways, handling delicate and boiling hot “xiaolongbao” soup dumplings with chopsticks, getting ears cleaned and sampling a local pale ale or two. Real bonds formed during this adventure, allowing the local cohorts be hosts on our home turf, where Group 4, led by “Uncle David” reigned victory in record time of 3 hours and 30mins.

游戏像纽带一样将大家深深的联结在一起。光华-凯洛格 EMBA的同学们主动热情的招待其他同学，让大家有一种宾至如归的感觉。

4个小时的游戏，我们结下了更深厚的友谊。最后，由“Uncle David”领导的第4组在创纪录的3小时30分钟的时间内夺冠。

To finish off the week, we enjoyed a leisurely cruise along the HuangPu river, yet again enjoying up close the night skyline of The Bund on Puxi and LuJiaZui on Pudong. During dinner, we were honored by by the presence of Professor Amy Zhai, the Academic Director of Guanghua-Kellogg program, who made the closing speech,followed by celebrating the birthdays of November babies through songs in seven languages!
