　　前情提要

　　Peer-to-peer companies are changing the nature of the global economy and are the source of a range of new business models. The sharing economy started out as initiatives to reduce waste and make use of idle private resources. The peer-to-peer companies emerged as the result of these efforts. Their ability to attract resources from multiple and seemingly incompatible sources is one of their great strengths. Another is the way they enable people to connect to the economy. This is especially important in a time when corporations have become increasingly disconnected from society and have lost legitimacy in the process. The lecture will present different sharing business models. Well known examples of peer-to-peer companies in China are Didi Chuxing, bike sharing companies Mobike (recently bought by Meituan Dianping) and Ofo. International examples are the room-sharing service AirBnB and the merger between IKEA and the online marketplace Task Rabbit.

　　The lecture will be based on a discussion of the Mobike-Meituan case. A case brief will be handed out in advance.
