【人物简介】董轶哲，英国爱丁堡大学(University of Edinburgh)金融学副教授(终身教职),博士生导师。获得拉夫堡大学(Loughborough University)金融学博士，诺丁汉大学(University of Nottingham)金融学硕士，卡迪夫大学(Cardiff University)经济学硕士和华南理工大学学士。曾担任英国亚伯大学(Aberystwyth University)讲师和杜伦大学(Durham University)博士后研究员。

董博士长期致力于金融机构效率，银行经营与管理，公司治理,公司金融,绿色金融和资本市场的研究；多次担任期刊Emerging Markets Finance and Trade客座编辑。先后在European Journal of Operation Research, European Journal of Finance, International Review Financial Analysis, British Accounting review, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money，Economic Modelling和Information Systems Frontiers等国际著名学术期刊上发表10多篇学术论文,并在4本专著中发表5个书本章节。2017年由Palgrave Macmillan出版社出版题为《Microfinance for Entrepreneurial Development: Sustainability and Inclusion in Emerging Markets》的专著。董轶哲还先后多次组织重要国际学术会议并被邀请在多个知名国际学术会议上作报告。

【报告摘要】This study examines the relation between the athletic experience of board directors and corporate outcomes. We predict that athletes’ attributes, such as physical fitness, mental resilience, leadership, and team-working skills, enhance their monitoring role. Using a large sample from 71 countries, we find that athletic experience is associated with better firm performance. The benefits are more pronounced when the experience is of team sports and confrontational sports, and for firms experiencing financial crisis. The results remain consistent when we instrument the athletic experience of directors with the number of Olympic medals won and Olympic sports participated in by the country in question at the previous Olympic Games.
