Unacceptable Behaviour at Work: Why should the business community care about it?

This seminar features Dr Christine Sprigg, a Lecturer in Occupational Psychology at the University of Sheffield and a previous Visiting Research Fellow at Leeds University Business School. Prior to re-joining the University of Sheffield in 2002, Christine held a number of research and teaching positions at the Health & Safety Laboratory, and at the universities of Newcastle and Northumbria. Her current research with colleagues in the universities of Sheffield and Nottingham explores cyberbullying at work, with an emphasis on the relationship with employee health outcomes.

In this seminar, Christine will share her thoughts on why the business community needs to know more about unacceptable behaviour at work. Drawing on current research from Europe and beyond, she will explore the different types of unacceptable behaviour at work and consider the evidence base for the negative outcomes of this type of behaviour for employees and organizations.

There will be an opportunity for questions following the seminar. The seminar will conclude with an interactive discussion on which types of employee and organizational interventions are being used in the workplace to tackle unacceptable behaviour and what is currently known about the utility of these interventions.
